Construction of an aerial tramway from the Vietnamese frontier town of Sapa to the top of Mount Fansipan began in late 2013 and it is expected to be completed in 2015.  Fansipan is the tallest mountain in all of IndoChina and it takes most hikers 2 or 3 days to reach the summit, which is above 10,000 feet.  The tramway is expected to cost about $200 million USD and when it is completed it will transport 35 passengers at a time from Sapa Town to the summit in about 15 minutes.  The system is designed to transport a maximum of 2000 people per hour.
